Surfin Safari
Brian Wilson and Mike Love wrote the song Surfin in the Autumn of 1961 and formed a band that also featured Brians brothers Dennis and Carl and school friend Al Jardine. Originally released on Candix Records it would ultimately chart at #75, prompting enquiries from Capitol Records and a further single in Surfin Safari. When that also made the chart, Capitol gave their approval for an album, culled from various sessions over the course of virtually a year that would ultimately be released as the Surfin Safari album. Released in October 1962, the album would peak at #32 on the US chart, although it failed to chart in the UK.
