Important Compatibility Note:
The OBD2 adapter is compatible with all 2008 and newer vehicles,
and 1996 till 2007 vehicles using the CAN, 14230, and KWP2000 protocols (NOT compatible with J1850 and ISO 9141).
All US vehicles manufactured after 2007 are required to use the CAN protocol, hence compatible with the OBD2 adapter.

Setup:
1 - Locate the vehicle diagnostics socket - it should be similar in shape to the adapter's plug, normally underneath the drivers-side dashboard, or behind a flap somewhere near or underneath the steering wheel.
2 - Plug the adapter into the socket - a red light should light up on the adapter.
3 - Pair the adapter with your Android compatible phone (pairing code "1234"). To pair, go to phone's bluetooth settings, scan for devices, wait until you see the device in the list, select the device, and enter pairing code when asked.
4 - Follow instructions for the app you're using - most apps require that you select the adapter in their settings.
