The only problem is that Chris seems to have endless girlfriends and is also, Sam’s sure, a bit of an idiot. Sam tells himself that he didn’t come to River Valley for a romance, and if it’s a bit disappointing in various aspects, the scenery more than makes up for that.

As time wears on, though, Sam begins to see more of Chris, and to think maybe he hasn’t been imagining the way Chris’ attention lingers on Sam more than any of the other guests. The worst part is, it seems that Chris actually isn’t an idiot at all, but a sweet, gentle guy with his own confusions and misplaced ambitions. Could it be that Chris has an interest in Sam after all? And could Chris be the turning point Sam’s been looking for?
