Western Blue Charaxes (Charaxes smaragdalis) Butterfly Specimen

The underside is fawn and a pale green with little black lines and spots. At the margin there is a chain of little white spots. The forewings are black with a broad white band and a chain of little white spots. The hind wings are black with a broad blue area on wing and two little tails that are ridged with a chain of white spots on the margin. The blue color of Charaxes smaragdalis depends on perspective. Therefore the blue can change to violet. **Please keep in mind that these specimens are dried and unspread (as shown), meaning the wings are closed. These specimens are useful if you want to use their wings only (for artwork, fairy dolls, jewelry) or simply to study them for science. In order to spread moths for mounting and display, simply search online on how to hydrate the butterflies to spread their wings. • You will receive a specimen similar to that shown • Each specimen is approximately 2" unspread (4" spread)
