Turnin' on
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this album from the R&B outfit. High Energy consisted of singing sisters Vernessa and Barbara Mitchell, both blessed with stunning Soul voices, alongside Linda Howard and Michelle Martin who were primarily dancers. Modelled on Motown's successful girl groups they were named after the Supremes 1976 album HIGH ENERGY. TURNIN' ON was the group's debut album released in 1977 and they hit the ground running with immediate chart success reaching #6 R&B and #28 Pop. The album was bolstered by the success of the first single 'You Can't Turn Me Off (In the Middle of Turning Me On)', a lush, mid-tempo, beautifully sung and orchestrated, sensual groove which ticks all the boxes of classic mid-seventies smooth soul, peaked at #2 R&B and #12 Pop. TURNIN' ON is essential listening for all R&B, Soul, Pop and Disco fans.
