The Triplett 3256 WireMaster HDMI high definition cable tester with detachable remote receiver and carrying case is used to test high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) short patch and longer in-wall cables (up to 200' if the cable has a repeater) for faults before and after installation. The tester includes a transmitter and removable receiver to be attached to opposite ends of the cable. Tests performed are indicated by nine red LEDs and results are given by nine green LEDs. It is compatible with HDMI cables with type A connectors conforming to 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3, 1.3a, category 1 (Cat 1), and category 2 (Cat 2) cables. This unit tests for where the cable has opens (or high resistance), shorts, and miswires. The removable receiver enables testing when the ends of the cable are in different locations. This cable tester has two test modes: Auto to perform a quick scan of all conductors in the cable and Manual to perform a more thorough scan of each conductor individually. The unit has a low battery warning LED (9V battery sold separately) and comes with a carrying case.
