Torry: Its History and Its People
This book is about the area of Torry in Aberdeen. It contains many interesting facts about the origin of the village and the lives of the inhabitants. It tells of the area's early industries such as fishing and brick making. It charts how the introduction of new industries and technologies in the 19th and 20th century caused the village to rapidly expand and of how it eventually became a casualty of those changes. It recounts the grim facts about the ferry disaster that claimed the lives of 32 people. And for good measure it contains information about the origin of local delicacy 'The Rowie' and the last pistol duel fought in the North East of Scotland
