To Change the Heart of Man, The Life of Harold D. Kletschka, M.D. Father of the Artificial Heart
A well written book about the difficult-to-believe AND well researched real-life experience of the men who pursued inventing the fully implantable artificial human heart blood pump that would include its power source and all necessary controls. It remains the worlds best chance for the hundreds of thousands of people who suffer from heart disease however, while Dr Harold D. Kletschka designed and patented this and other life saving devices, greed and lust for power prevented it from being finished before Dr. K died. Historically accurate while capturing the realities of growing up in the Lakes region of Minnesota from the depression era through the middle twentieth century. Worth the read!
