Thermo Scientific ELED F6018 Thermolyne Premium Large Muffle Furnace with (A1) Digital Single Setpoint Temperature Controller, 208V, 14 Liter Capacity, 100 to 1200 Degree C
The Thermo Scientific F6018 Thermolyne Premium Large Muffle Furnace has an A1 single-setpoint digital controller, 14 L (0.5 cubic foot) heating area capacity, and a temperature range of 100 to 1,200 degrees C for general laboratory and industrial use. Four heating elements on the furnace top, bottom, and sides provide fast and even heating, with minimal temperature gradient. The furnace has a temperature stability of +/- 0.3 degrees C and a temperature uniformity of +/- 2.2 degrees C (at 1,000 degrees) for even heating of large furnace loads. Thermal-efficient ceramic insulation reduces heat loss and enhances energy efficiency. A 0.95 cm (0.38") diameter port at the rear of the furnace allows an independent temperature monitoring device to check internal temperature measurements. The furnace has an LED display that shows the chamber temperature as the unit heats, and the setpoint temperature can be checked. The front door drops down when opened, which vents heated air up and away from the operator, and allows the door to be used as a shelf when loading and unloading the furnace. An optional stainless-steel shelf (not included) can be used to double the furnace load. This furnace is designed for laboratory-heating and industrial applications such as ashing, sintering, heat treating, quantitative analysis, and gravimetric analysis.
The Thermo Scientific F6018 requires a single-phase 208V and 50/60 Hz electrical outlet and fuse (not included). The A1 single-setpoint digital controller sets a single temperature that the furnace will heat to and hold, until it is turned off. Safety features include a door safety switch, which turns off the heating elements when the door is open, and sensor break protection, which turns power off in the event of thermocouple failure. The furnace controller also includes a self-tuning feature. Self-tuning changes the control parameters to ensure temperature accuracy for a particular material type (load) and setpoint. A built-in vent port removes moisture and contaminants, which extends the life of the heating elements and the furnace. The furnace is Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved. The power cord and plug are included.

Laboratory furnaces are used for heating applications that require a range of high temperatures. They heat to high temperatures evenly and maintain consistent temperatures, while providing an environment free of undesirable contaminants and moisture. Factors such as object size, controllers, temperature range, and shape determine the uses of particular furnaces. Most furnaces have digital controllers that determine how fast they heat up (ramp), how long the temperature can be held (dwell), and how fast they cool down. Safety systems are included in most furnaces to prevent overheating the contents, as well as the furnace itself. Laboratory furnaces are used in applications such as petroleum analysis, chemical analysis of certain compounds, and heat-treating small steel parts.
Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables, and software under the Thermo Scientific and Fisher Scientific brands, among others. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
