The parables of the kingdom
Noted theologian C.H. Dodd, Professor Emeritus of Divinity at the University of Cambridge, England, states in his Foreword to the first edition that this book is based upon the course of Shaffer Lectures given at the Divinity School, Yale University, in the United States. First published in 1935, it was reprinted in a revised edition in 1936, 1938, and nearly every year (or two) for several decades after. Chock full of biblical scholarship with analysis of specific scriptures, phrases and words, Professor Dodd's book has been a valued resource for clergy and laity alike across multiple generations, not only for its wisdom and clarity, but for its relevance as well.
