The Tilma and Other Poems
Upon a rock she shining stood... The Tilma and Other Poems tells the story of the famous image of Guadalupe, an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary that appeared upon a poor Indian's cloak centuries ago in 1531, still visible today. The cloak is the tilma, a word that derives from the Aztec language, and the Indian was Juan Diego, now declared a saint. The Tilma will take one into this wondrous story in poetic form.
