The Spider's Web
A teenage boy is killed in a tragic joyriding accident and, despite his parents' protests, the results of the autopsy seem clear--he died of multiple injuries consistent with a high-speed car crash.
Dr. Sam Ryan has paid little attention to this case, since her colleague Trevor Stuart performed the autopsy. So when the boy's parents beg her for a second opinion, she's reluctant to jeopardize her friendship with Trevor. Something in the file persuades her to go ahead, and what she finds convinces her that this was no ordinary accident. But neither Trevor nor Superintendent Tom Adams accepts her findings.
Determined to prove her case, Sam begins her own investigation, enlisting the help of forensic scientist Marcia Evans. Together they begin to unravel a bizarre series of murders that has Sam searching the Internet for the killer as she realizes, to her horror, that her own nephew could be in terrible danger.
Then two more people die under suspicious circumstances, and Superintendent Adams has little choice but to reopen the case. But it soon becomes clear that there is only one person who can lead them to the killer, and Sam must make a heartbreaking decision that could change her life forever.
Full of twists, turns, and unbearable suspense, The Spider's Web is the latest book in Nigel McCrery's brilliant Silent Witness series--now a major television drama starring Amanda Burton.
