Lightweight Rocket Spools are manufactured in the UK to our own design & specification & with the "2013" we have slightly wider rims to stop the line getting trapped between spool & cage; we've reintroduced the "spline" for those using level-winds & our spools are now manufactured from a new type of aluminium which has resulted in yet another improvement in performance. The (ABU) Record Sport 2100 was the first reel to feature the patented centrifugal braking system, and it's popularity was greatly enhanced by Sweden's own Ake Dalberg. This Tournament Caster from Stockholm came up in the Tournament Casting circuit in Sweden in the mid 1940s, setting World Records in distance baitcasting at the 1947 International Competition in Hamar, Norway & the 1948 contest in Wimbledon Park, London. By the 1950s ABU were producing a special order Record Sport 2100 equipped with an ultralight tournament spool for Tournament Casters. So what's new? The "2013" 5500 Standard Rocket Spool weighs 14 gms and the "2013" 5500 High Capacity Rocket Spool weighs 12 gms.
