The Girl Who Tweaked Two Lions' Tails

Fourteen year old Angelina Freyer fights for her life in the African bush.

Born in Africa, growing up on a farm in Kenya, Angelina has a photographic memory, is tested at Nairobi University and given a provisional IQ of 175.

But she is flawed with peculiarities and does some quirky things which get her into trouble.

As an avid reader of books and thus very knowledgeable, Angelina always gets the better of her father who dubs her Little Nuisance.

At the age of ten, she leads five young Masai boys on an imaginary lion hunt. They encounter a real lion and Angelina has to use her savvy to get them out of their predicament.

When she is fourteen, she goes missing on a safari in the Zambezi Valley and hope is given up that she may be alive. Her father believes Little Nuisance is dead.

She tells us what happened in the bush. Stranded with twelve other survivors after a safari plane crash, hunted by poachers turned diamond smugglers, Angelina and the other survivors are obliged to leave the crash site and flee into the bush.

This farm girl is the only one who knows how to stay alive. One of the survivors, David Clegg, eighteen year old geology student of Montreal University, is smitten by Angelina, recognises her abilities and teams up with her.

Angelina decides to hike to Victoria Falls, a hundred and fifty mile tramp through the bush. She faces dissent, deceit, sabotage, bushfires, storms on Lake Kariba, attack by the diamond smugglers, crocodiles, and the superstition of the dreaded Nyaminyami river god.

Fraught with thirst, hunger, injuries, failure and death, Angelina's escape through the bush takes its toll on the other survivors, especially those who don't believe a girl is capable of tweaking two lions' tails.
