€œWill James is the ideal fellow to make a book. He can draw horses with the best, he can write the American language, he has narrative gift.€ ï€ÂNew York World
€œHe has an unvarnished but singularly salty and effective style€"and when James draws a bucking horse, the horse isn€t merely bucking, he€s exploding.€ ï€ÂNew York Times
First published in 1925, The Drifting Cowboy is the second of Will James€s twenty-four books. The seven stories in the book revolve around the adventures of a lanky cowboy named Bill, whose drifting takes him throughout the West, from Montana to Arizona, as he lives the hard life of a working cowboy. Each story is perfectly complemented by the author€s spirited pen-and-ink and charcoal drawings.
And now, for the first time, The Drifting Cowboy is available to a new audience as an ebook. As James explains in the preface, €œIn this book you€ll find the cowboy still very much alive and all cowboy the same as ever as he drifts and hunts for new cow county; the call from new ranges still makes him run in his saddle and pack horse and hit out.€Â
