The Deer

This piece was inspired by an encounter I had with a deer while driving in Yosemite. The deer (probably a baby) jumped in front of my car. Fortunately, I was driving slowly and I did not hit it. The deer€s illuminated body, caught in my headlights, halted me! The image of a deer in fall foliage, illuminated by a bright headlamp or headlight, struck me as a powerful image to paint. This piece has very thick impasto texture and warm colors. The painting is on a wood board. It comes wired to hang, but would also look great framed.
