The Dead See

The playful young couple was on vacation in the Holy Land. They were among a huge crowd at the Dead Sea. There were hundreds of old folks floating on the dense salt water's surface. There were dozens of children playing with sulfur balls that they found along the shore and near the foothills. Suddenly there was an earthquake. A huge black mass of asphalt emerged from the belly of the lake. Many native men took their boats out to the thing and began to chop it up with their axes. The black stuff was highly flammable. The men sold the flammable substance to local villages to burn as fossil fuel. The smoke from the tar-like stuff made the villagers sick unto death. The smoke was green and purple. It smelled like brimstone from the abyss. The couple saw a group of demons cavorting in the water within their group of American tourists. At first the demons looked to be no more than other strange people on vacation at the lowest spot on earth. In fact they blended in so well with the crowds that the couple shrugged off their first sighting of the enemy as a mistake.
