The tower operates on a 60 Hz 20.0 kW generator, with an Isuzu 31.4 hp engine, and a 60 gallon (228 L) tank for providing up to 120 hours of continuous use. The operational temperature range is -40 to 105 degrees F, with standard engine protection shutdowns at high temperature and low oil.
The AL 5 has a 30' (9.14 m) fully galvanized mast with a single self-braking winch design, and an ergonomically placed handle for raising and lowering the tower. The hand-operated winch is mounted inside the cabinet, as is the control panel for protection from the elements. The power cord is also protected by a rotatable mast sleeve which automatically recoils when raising or lowering the tower. The AL 5 has individual quick-connect plug-in ballasts installed in galvanized steel boxes for simple service and repair, two GFI duplex 20 A/120 V receptacles, three 30 A/240 V T/L receptacles, and one 700 CCA battery. All light fixtures plug into a waterproof box with UL and CAS approved connectors and are protected from the elements in the cabinet. The cabinet has a fade resistant finish for protection in the field.
The AL 5 has a single point lifting eye, fork lift pockets for placement at difficult to reach job sites, and galvanized outriggers with pre-set position stops to ensure proper spacing. The light tower has a 2" (50.8 mm) ball coupler for towing, is set on (2) 15" wheels, weighs 2,340 lbs (1,061 kg) with no fuel, and has an axle rating of 3,500 lbs for towing on rough roads. Department of Transportation (DoT) approved tail lights are affixed to the back of the tower for safe transportation.
Light tower units are used for illuminating work and event sites to maximize nighttime productivity and consist of a tower with a durable base and mast, with a set of lights at the top of the mast that can be rotated and positioned as necessary. Light towers are used for many different applications, including construction, mining, and sporting events. For industrial use only.
