Highly detailed Limited Edition 1/70 scale assembly model kit of the Apollo Spacecraft used during the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing, which took place on July 20, 1969. Launched on July 16, 1969, the Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission to land on the Moon, and it carried three American Astronauts: Mission Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene 'Buzz' Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, 1969, Astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon, while Collins orbited above. This beautifully detailed Tamiya 1/70 scale assembly kit features: In addition to the included Command/Service Module (CSM) and the Apollo Lunar Module, the Spacecraft Lunar Module Adapter (SLA) and display bases for both the CSM and SLA are also included. The side panel of the Service module can be open after assembly, displaying its interior details. Clear transparent plastic plate is included to depict glass areas. The Apollo Lunar Module has detachable ascent and descent stages and can be docked with the Command Module after assembly. Landing gears contained in the Descent stage of the Apollo Lunar Module can be retracted to depict in-flight state or extended to depict landed state. Gold aluminum foil parts for the thermal blanket are included. Two astronaut figures and an American flag are included for added realism. This is a perfect model kit to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 mission.
