Humphrey Bogart, Walter Huston, Tim Holt, Bruce Bennett, Barton MacLane, dir: John Huston; Warner Brothers. Superb performances were equaled by John Huston's directing and writing (Academy Awards to father Walter and son John). The tale of greed and prospecting of gold took place in 1925 Mexico and was filmed on location there. At $3.5 million it was Warner's most expensive film to date. The death of Humphrey Bogart's character Dobbs was so graphically filmed (being decapitated) that the censors ordered the sequence re-edited, much to Bogart's and Huston's dismay.Card no. 5 features the three main players -- Walter Huston, Humphrey Bogart and Tim Holt -- as they set out to mine for gold in the Sierra Madre Mountains. There is a crease at the bottom right corner and some very minor border creasing. One spot of soiling at the middle top blank white margin. ABOUT FINE.
