THE CALICO STRAW

Sheriff Eddie Bradford has known for some time that something bad is brewing in Clayborn County. The ATF suspects a lab in this part of the state making meth and crack cocaine. Bradford believes his county may be the center of the activity and is very close to discovering who is in charge and where the lab is set up.
To add to the tension, the oldest daughter of the prominent McAlester family is coming back to town for a visit after seventeen years. Calico McAlester Virrat was a troubled teenager when she disappeared. Rumors in the area are that not everyone in town is happy about the woman’s return. What is making some people in this town so nervous about her return? What made her run away? Why is she coming back? Are the two recent suspicious suicides part of her puzzle or something else entirely?
The very day Calico McAlester Varrat returns, murder hits her family. Calie meets her three year old half-sister, Andrea. Through the next few days, as a blizzard moves in to Oklahoma; Bradford learns the truth surrounding the McAlesters as Calie fights to save her own life and the life of her little sister.
