Spyraflo BFM-500-B Self-Aligning, SAE-840 Oil Impregnated Bronze Bearing With 2-Bolt Hole, 1/2" Inner-Diameter Steel Flange
This Spyraflo self-aligning SAE 840 oil-impregnated bronze bearing with steel flange and two bolt holes is designed for mounting onto bearing surfaces perpendicular to the shaft axis. The flange is made of steel for strength and resistance to shock. The bronze plain bearing insert in the housing is formed and sized to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) 840 specifications and supports moderate loads, moderate speeds, and rotational and oscillatory motion. The bronze is sintered for strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. This porous bronze bearing is vacuum-infused with a minimum volume of 25 percent oil, which remains in the pores of the bearing to provide lubricant from the bearing to the shaft during operation. The bearing is self-clinched in the steel flange for a secure fit and is replaceable. The bearing insert is self-aligning and compensates for +/- 5 degrees of static misalignment. This plain bearing has a maximum load value of 2,000 psi (pounds per square inch), a maximum velocity value of 1,200 fpm (surface feet per minute), and a maximum load-at-velocity (PV) value of 25,000, and operates at temperatures ranging from -20 to 200 degrees F (-28 to 93 degrees C). Designed with a regular straight bore, this bearing fits to conventional cylindrical shafts. Plain flanged bearings are for use in various applications such as heavy-lifting equipment, pumps, aircraft, and motors, among others.
Mounted bearings combine a bearing mounted inside a housing unit. The bearing housing replaces the need for a casting or weldment to position the bearing securely for reliable operation, and its design determines the type of insert bearing. Insert bearings use rolling elements (ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindled, or tapered) to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction, and to support radial and axial loads. Available in a variety of materials and mounting configurations, mounted bearings can be one- or two-piece, they can have an extended inner ring and locking device, and they can have seals and end caps that retain lubrication and protect the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris. Mounted bearings support shafts in a variety of mounting configurations (flange block, hanger, pillow block, and take-up block), and are used in a range of applications from light duty shaft guidance on conveyors to road building equipment and crushers.
