Solzhenitsyn the Moral Vision
Trade Paperback, copyright 1980, reprinted January 1982 with 239 pages. - Since its publication in 1980 it has come to be recognized as an important study on this Russian dissident. It's distinction lies in author Ericson's view that it is a mistake to view Solzhenitsyn primarily through a political prism. He must be seen instead as essentially a powerful literary force. This book undertakes to examine his works as distinctive literary achievements, each with its own integrity and internal coherence. At the same time, Ericson believes that Solzhenitsyn's literary vison must be understood as couched in a particular understanding of human nature, namely that conception which has been nurtured by the long tradition of Christian thought.
