Sierra Designs' 2014 sleeping bags were designed in response to monumental deficiencies in traditional backpacking bags. Old-fashioned mummy bags were designed to be thermally efficient, but the resulting product doesn't know whether it wants to be a bed or a garment. As a result, they perform poorly in both applications and so Sierra Designs has designed the Mobile Mummy to move when you do, so that you can sleep on your side, stomach or back and without feeling constrained. You can wear it like a garment to sit up and use your hands to drink a hot beverage, cook or read by using the arm ports, which have no zippers, toggles, or hook and loop closures to get in the way. The garment-style shoulder design is tapered so that the weight of the bag is on your shoulders and not on your head while sitting up or moving around. You can also leave you down jacket at home and stow the foot box for a comfortable walk around camp. DriDown technology represents the evolution of down insulation and is treated with a molecular polymer that creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual down plume.
