Rory Gallagher's Fender Stratocaster Greeting Card, DL size
This DL-sized greeting card features a highly detailed hand drawn colour illustration of Rory Gallagher's 1961 Fender Stratocaster by George Morgan on the front and on the rear a brief history of the guitar and when it was used. The card is produced on 350 g/m2 card and supplied with a quality white envelope in a clear cellophane bag. Playing a variety of instruments throughout his career, Rory is most related to this 1961 Tobacco Sunburst, using it on nearly all live performances and studio recordings it can be seen on the cover of a number of his albums. Rory bought this guitar in 1963 after a showband member ordered a red Stratocaster from Fender, but this sunburst was delivered instead. The customer decided to wait for his red one leaving Rory to purchase the one he turned down. It's also said to have been the first Stratocaster brought into Ireland. Over the years Rory changed pickups, tuners, pickguard, wiring and installed a 5-way selector switch. Almost all of the original finish is gone, caused by heavy road use. Forming Taste in 1966, Rory performed his blend of folk to blues-rock mostly in the UK with a residency at the Marquee Club, also supporting Cream at their Royal Albert Hall farewell concert and Blind Faith on their US tour.
