January: Colorado and Southern 806 is street running with a southbound freight on Mason Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado on November 23, 1957.
February: New York Central 4000, its first EMD Class E7A, is in concert with a newer Class E8-A, lead Train 44, the eastbound "New York Special" out of Chicago, Illinois on November 10, 1962.
March: October 1, 1958, Illinois Central 2608 is leading a coal train past the well maintained Du Bois, Illinois depot, pulling off the main line to allow higher priority traffic to pass.
April: Norfolk and Western 2149 is near Montvale, Virginia with a mile of empty coal hoppers in tow on April 25, 1957. Engine 2149, a Class Y6, 2-8-8-2, was built in 1939 in the company s Roanoke, Virginia shops, and continued in service until the end of steam operations in 1960.
May: Canadian National helper 3423 is assisting road engine 6240 on Photographed by Bill Price an eastbound freight at Hamilton, Ontario on May 17, 1958.
June: Western Pacific 920A is on the point of a westbound freight, crossing the Keddie Wye Trestle, California in June 1969.
July: Central Vermont 603 sits at the White River Junction, Vermont depot with the southbound "Ambassador" on July 23, 1952. Central Vermonter 603 is one of four Mountain, 4-8-2, Type locomotives built by American Locomotive Works in 1927.
August: Chicago, Burlington and Quincy 5629, a Class O5-A Northern, 4-8-4, is leading freight near Gretna, Nebraska, 20 miles southwest of Omaha in August of 1956.
September: Western Maryland Challenger, 4-6-6-4, 1202 is on a westbound freight passing the water tank at Lap, Maryland on September 13, 1952.
October: Norfolk and Western 131, a Class K-2a Mountain (4-8-2) leads Train #14 as it leaves Luray, Virginia, on October 12, 1955.
November: Southern Pacific s small engine terminal at Port Costa, California, located about twenty-five miles from Oakland, California, was one of their last terminals to use steam power.
December: Wabash 493 and 486, EMD GP-9s, are coming through Decatur, Illinois with the "Wabash Cannonball" on December 12, 1960.
