The Precision Brand proprietary elastomer slotted shim has an opaque yellow color with 0.045" thickness, meets Federal Specification L-P-535, and has a standard tolerance. The proprietary elastomeric plastic material fills irregular gaps by compressing to a thickness of 0.040" and absorbing up to 0.020" of angularity, which helps fix angular soft foot alignment problems. Angular soft foot is an irregular or uneven gap between the foot of a motor, fan, or blower, and its base; if not corrected, it can cause vibration, misalignment, and repeatability problems. The shim is color-coded for thickness identification.
