Features future-proof USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity. Uses the JMicron JMS551 chipset for unique dual drive access and stand-alone clone duplication support. Open vertical docking bays for easy dock/undock of bare/internal 2.5" SATA drives. Connect up to two 2.5" (up to 9mm thick, 12mm without PSS case) SATA drive. SATA I, II, & III (at SATA II 3Gbps speeds) supported over USB 3.0 SuperSpeed 5Gbps (5Gbps=640MBps), up to 10x as fast as USB 2.0. Fully backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 at their native speeds. Real world transfer rate performance over USB 3.0 will vary by computer host controller and drive specifications.
Power Management
Drive sleeps automatically on OS power events or idle drive activity.
Compatibility
No drivers required: uses standard USB mass storage class support already provided in Windows XP and later, Mac, and Linux. Stand-alone drive clone duplication is supported by placing the source drive into slot one and placing a target drive of equal or larger size into slot two and starting the clone function using the buttons on the back of the dock all without the need for a computer attached. Convenient diagnostic LEDs flash to indicate drive cloning activity and remain solid when the copy is finished. Stand-alone clone duplication speeds average about 40-60MBps but will be highly dependant on the drives used. The JMicron chipset copies drive data sector-by-sector from source to destination and is completely independent of the filesystem on the drive.
