Pitsco Levitator Maglev Kit, For 30 Students
The Pitsco Levitator Maglev Kit provides students in grades 3-12 a hands-on activity to build a model car propelled by magnetic levitation that demonstrates the scientific concepts of magnetism, center of mass, and aerodynamic drag, and it includes cardstock templates for cars that students can cut out and fold into shape and small magnets to attach to the bases of the cars. The kit includes cardstock templates, cardstock car bases, ceramic magnets, and instructions. The magnets repel cars away from a magnetic strip on a gravity track such as the 37516 Maglev II Track (sold separately) to demonstrate magnetic levitation. The kit demonstrates the scientific concepts of magnetic attraction and repulsion for students studying magnetism. The kit reinforces engineering, technology, and math concepts as students assemble and race model vehicles propelled by magnetic levitation. A maglev vehicle kit is typically used in an educational setting to demonstrate magnetic levitation, aerodynamics, and engineering.
Construction requires transparent tape, scissors, and double-stick tape (all sold separately).
Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology.
Pitsco Education develops K-12 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum, educational kits, and classroom tools. The company, founded in 1971, is headquartered in Pittsburg, KS.
