Percupulsions / Gymnorythmies 1
Avant-Primitivism and baroque lyricism collide on Patrice Sciortino's unknown and under appreciated Percupulsions. Recorded late 1969 and released on the French 'Neuilly' library imprint in 1970, the album is delightful, mysterious and strangely accessible - jarring percussion jostles with tape manipulations, abstract melodies, spacious disconcerting harpsichords and extended techniques. A few years later Sciortino cut the inventive Gymnorythmies 1, an album of polymorphous individualism intended to accompany contemporary dance/gymnastics (it even came with an instructional booklet). Both LPs are reissued for the very first with a raft of intriguing and rare extra tracks. Superbly remastered from the original tapes and presented with exclusive liner notes and rare photos from the composer's own collection. 46 tracks. All original recordings. First ever official reissue. 20 page full color booklet with exclusive liner notes and rare photos. Tracks 1-16 are from the 12'' LP Percupulsions, Neuilly - MC 8002 (1970). Tracks 17-39 are from the 12'' LP Gymnorythmies 1, UniDisc (1975). Tracks 40-44 are from the 12'' LP Le Vitrail Eparpill, Mondiodis (1976). Tracks 45-46 are from the 12'' LP Imaginations Aux Grandes Orgues, SM.
