Pasteboard Pieces: A Collection of Magic Tricks & Moves with Cards
A book of magic tricks and moves with cards. Suitable for card-handlers of reasonable skill. The tricks vary from gambling demonstrations (cutting the aces from a shuffled deck, centre-dealing), to story-based card tricks, and a couple of moves to add to your arsenal.
The tricks are:
Almost Scarne's Aces:
A deck is unwrapped and the seal broken by a spectator. The cards can be examined by the spectator. The spectator shuffles and cuts the deck as much as he wants, before handing the cards back to the performer. The performer then dead-cuts the aces as he tells the famous story of John Scarne cutting aces on demand from a shuffled deck.
Fake Centre-Deal - Method 1:
A very convincing centre-deal demonstration involving a spectator, that does not involve a centre-deal.
Fake Centre-Deal - Method 2:
A fast demonstration of a centre deal.
Fake Push-Off Second Deal:
A demonstration of push-off second dealing, requiring no sleight of hand.
Countdown:
The cards count down from three to one, before 'blasting off'.
Fighting Jacks:
Two cards are lost in the deck, and are later found to have changed colour.
Valentine's Day:
An ideal card trick for lovers. By fate alone, the lovers' cards come together as if they were always mean to be.
Three-Packet False Cut:
A very simple in-the-hands full-deck false cut.
Instant Mind Reading (aka The Joy of Peeking):
Using a shuffled deck and without any hesitation you name the spectator's chosen card. This can be repeated instantly several times.
