Original Cage-Burn Leather All Star 6
Commemorates the Harlem Rens Vintage African American Basketball Team of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s.
In the early days of basketball, games were played in wire mesh cages to protect the players from the spectators, and vice versa. Players got tic-tac-toe lacerations on their flesh as they were pinned against the cage.
The new Black Fives "Cage Burn" Leather All Stars are inspired by that basketball cage history, with wood-like eyelets, pieced leather, hand-crafted old world style striping reminiscent of vintage socks worn by the New York Renaissance Big Five of Harlem. The insole contains a diagram of an antique caged basketball court layout. The laces are leatherized.
Once again, Converse has taken a classic shoe and made it into something entirely new. Once again, they make history now!
