One
Jazz/Funk. 1974. One of the earliest entries in the smooth jazz genre, featuring players Gene McDaniels, Grover Washington, Steve Gadd, Idris Muhammed, and a deep horn section, perhaps most noteable for its closing track, "Nautilus", which has been virtually appropriated by hip hop as one of that genre's anthems/cultural reference points. Sampled by Ultramagnetic MCs, Ghostface Killah, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, Run DMC, EPMD, Main Source, Onyx, Naughty By Nature, A Tribe Called Quest, Group Home & Jeru the Damaja. More recently the track has been used by Danny Brown (Fools Gold Records) on his 2011 track "Pac Blood".
