Old Believer
Chicago, Illinois's THE ATLAS MOTH has always been hard to categorize. Drawing from myriad influences and styles, their sound is one of the most unique and unusual in today's American underground--progressive psychedelic metal both crushingly heavy and sublimely beautiful. After albums on Candlelight and Profound Lore, widespread touring both on their own and supporting Gojira and Devin Townsend, and festival appearances that include Scion Rock Fest, Roadburn and Pitchfork Music Festival, the band has made quite a name for themselves. On their third full-length release, The Atlas Moth unleash their most glorious and emotionally riveting work yet. The Old Believer exceeds all previous efforts on the strength of its unparalleled songwriting and focused presentation. Produced by guitarist/keyboardist ANDREW RAGIN at Chicago's Wall to Wall Studios and mixed and mastered by Ragin and KYLE SPENCE of Harvey Milk in Atlanta, Georgia, the album features guest appearances by GOJIRA vocalist JOE DUPLANTIER and SUBROSA violinists KIM PACK and SARAH PENDLETON. The art and design for The Old Believer was created by INVISIBLE CREATURE (Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, Norma Jean, etc.) and features a water-reveal stock on the CD booklet's front and back cover.
