Niobe's Tears

A bleak Minnesota winter pairs police detectives and former lovers, Kelly Abner and Alan Matthews in a mystery that will expose family secrets while the detectives explore their continued romantic feelings for one another. A young prostitute is ritually murdered in a hotel room and the bizarre clues point to a serial killer bent on revenge. A single word found on the victim's back - NIOBE - points the detectives to a Greek myth where children were murdered to appease the gods. Detective Kelly Abner is brought deeper into the mystery when she discovers a connection between the murdered girl and her powerful father, Senator Jacob Abner. Kelly is confused about her loyalty to her father and the duty to perform her job. Two more murders deepen the mystery and broaden the connection between Senator Abner and the victims.
