Modified to meet the demands of skateboarders, Nike released the Nike Dunk SB (Skateboarding) in 2002. Unlike the original Nike Dunk, the SB model is equipped with Zoom Air insoles, which provide superior cushioning and impact resistance. Originally, the SB model also featured a padded tongue for cushioning between the top of the foot and the board. They are also constructed with more durable materials to withstand the abuse that skateboard sneakers must endure.
