There is no army or police force left. The power is off. The survivors are left to fight over the remaining supplies of food and water. After the pandemic he saves a young boy called Dan from a vicious gang and his life is turned upside down. Nick and the young boy meet up with Beth and her two daughters Kay and Sammy at an abandoned motorway service station and he is drawn further into a situation that he has been avoiding for years, getting close to anyone. Beth and her daughters have had to leave the safety of their house and they are heading to Bournemouth. They are looking for something that no longer exists, a safe place to live in this New World.
