Moments of Wonder: Life with Moritz

Barry met Moritz when Moritz was an eight-week-old puppy living in the Swiss Alps. His calm presence, even at such a young age, deeply touched Barry, and he decided to take Moritz home with him to Montana. Moritz turned out to have a natural yet powerful gift for healing. Wanting to help Moritz share this gift, Barry took him for pet therapy certification. On his first birthday, Moritz and Barry began to visit patients in the hospital. After each visit, Barry would write a few pages about their experience, and before long these stories became a book: Nose to Nose: A Memoir of Healing. Three more Moritz books for children followed, each telling of an adventure that the two of them had shared. As word spread and they traveled the world, Moritz's kindness and compassion affected many people. Healing seemed to flow form a nudge of his nose here, a sniff there, his head laid on someone's lap, his direct look into a person's eyes. Together, Moritz and Barry visited hospitals, libraries and schools, bookstores, charity fundraisers, camps, museums and fairs. Life changed for Barry. Time changed. Unexpected moments began to arise, chance interactions filled with wonder. Moments of Wonder: Life with Moritz is a small collection of these stories.
