Mini X Stepped Dowels, Walnut (100)
Peg construction traditionally involves the difficult task of driving a pin dowel into a hole that is just as tight at the top as it is at the bottom. Not only do you have to use a hammer from the very beginning, but it only gets tougher as you get deeper. The Miller dowel is inserted 75 by hand because of the relationship of the dowel shape to its pilot hole. You get better holding strength, and its easier to tap in. Another advantage of inserting the dowel through the top board is simply that there is less chance for the pilot hole to be misaligned. Mini X dowels are 1-5/8" long and 1/4" at their largest diameter, ideal for joining 1/Â2" stock.
