Mastercraft Collection Douglas L-1049SC Eastern Model Scale:1/100
Introduced in 1972 to compete with the Boeing 747 and Douglas DC-10, the Lockheed L-1011 is a three engined widebody airliner that is quieter and more efficient than its competitors. Although Lockheed sold 250 models of the aircraft, as well as a few more military TriStar variants, the L-1011 was financially a failure, and Lockheed has since backed out of the commercial aircraft business. While a technically capable aircraft, only twenty L-1011s remain in civilian service, and nine more are operated as tankers by the Royal Air Force. This capable airliner is reproduced here in the livery of Trans World Airlines, which has been reproduced to an exacting detail. The high-quality finish combines with a handcrafted mahogany construction to make an ideal model for any collector or enthusiast.
