The Mammut Element Barryvox is one of the best-selling avalanche transceivers around thanks to its digital 3-antenna design, ease-of-use function and clear recovery instructions. It features single-button operation with a clearly laid out display, making the device very user friendly and guaranteeing fast and precise location. The 3-antenna design allows for simple pinpointing at close range and for deep burials. In the event of a multiple burial situation, the Element has digital signal analysis so individual frequencies can be isolated and victim's signals can be marked. When in search mode the Element's LCD display will show the distance and direction, as well as number of victims, and provides audio feedback with a series of lengthened or shortened beeps as you move towards or away from the casualties. Upon start up, the Element undertakes a self-test to ensure all features are functioning correctly. When in SEARCH mode the Element will also automatically switch to SEND mode after 8 minutes of inactivity, ensuing that any rescuers caught in secondary avalanches can also be located. The Element runs on 3 x AAA batteries and will have a run time of up to 250 hours in SEND mode and 1 hour in SEACH mode. The extremely robust housing offers good resistance to impact or breakage.
