Look to God and live;: Discourses of Marion G. Romney
The discourses published in this volume attest to the author's deep and abiding conviction that in the gospel of Jesus Christ is to be found a solution to all the perplexing questions and problems of men and nations. Generally the discourses respond to a situation, question, or problem existing at the time they were prepared (frequently recalled by head notes). It is hoped that what is said will help the reader understand the gospel principles discussed and their relevance to the problems involved; that it will help him realize that what is happening in our turbulent times is the result of man's refusal to seek "the Lord to establish his righteousness" (D&C 1:16) that it will help him to know that peace, progress, joy, and happiness may be had and will be had among men when they are sought in God's "own way"; that it will help him orient his own life and inspire him to stay on course by following Alma's charge to his son Helaman: "Look to God and live" (Alma 37:47). It is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land. . . . Just as surely as this director did bring our fathers, by following its course, to the promised land, shall the words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise.
