Le Sac des Filles
Unavailable on CD in the U.S.! Debut solo album from this French chanteuse, originally released in 2002. Best known outside of France for her vocals on Nouvelle Vague's self-titled 2004 album, she has been proclaimed as one of the most talented signer/songwriters of her generation, reaching Gold and Platinum status with her releases as well as winning the Le Prix Constantin (France's equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize). For those of you who have not yet heard her, Camille's voice is 'once heard, never forgotten' experience. Her crystal clear vocals, by turn childlike, whimsical, quirky and pensive, have already induced comparisons with Bjork but her playful tones, sourced by turn from Gallic and African musics, are never less than her own. Camille is joined on this release by guitarist Sebastien Martel, bassist Laurent Vernerey and special guest appearance from Elvis Costello's right hand man, Steve Nieve, on piano and clavier. 11 tracks. EMI.
