A great change sweeps across the cattle industry. Old family owners are quickly being being replaced by city businessmen, doctors, lawyers, investors, all with too much money and no bush sense. Managers replaced by accountants and traditions like a mans word and handshake as a contract, replaced by a scrap of paper with a bunch of meaningless words. Rick takes up the challenge in an ancient frontier, the rugged heart of the Kimberley and at a price, makes a packet for his ungrateful owners. As the story draws to an end, he realizes a boyhood dream, to work on the worlds largest cattle station, the VRD (Victoria River Downs) only to see the dream fade as the end of an era draws to a close.
