Labconco 7751020 FreeZone 4.5 Liter Console Freeze Dry System, 115V, 60 Hz
The Labconco 7751020 FreeZone console freeze dry system has a 4.5L capacity, and an upright stainless steel drying chamber to facilitate freeze drying of aqueous solutions. The system has automatic start-up features to ease processing, and an override capability to manually control refrigeration and vacuum. The condensing module cools the collector coil to -58 degrees F/-50 degrees C. The system uses a non-flammable refrigerant that contains no ozone-damaging hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) or chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). The stainless steel drying chamber is permanently installed to facilitate sample connection. The 10-port chamber allows connection of serum bottles, ampules, or freeze dry flasks using the 1/2" or 3/4" adapters. Valves have a beveled edge to ease indication of whether the valve is open or closed, and the clear acrylic lid permits monitoring of ice build-up on the collector. The LCD displays the system operating parameters, setup parameters, and alarm messages. The rear-mounted RS-232 port transmits data to a user-supplied computer. The data transmission interval can be set to occur at 10, 30, 60, 300 or 600 second intervals. Vacuum and temperature graphs display the relative system vacuum and collector temperature. LEDs indicate when vacuum and temperature levels are within-range or out-of-range for adding samples. Visual and auditory alarms indicate a system error.
The vacuum control valve maintains the setpoint vacuum level to speed the freeze dry process. The vacuum break valve bleeds air into the system when power to the freeze dryer or vacuum pump is shut off, protecting the system from oil backstreaming. The system automatically restarts after brief power outages of approximately 5 minutes. The system does not restart after longer power outages if the collector warms, preventing melted samples from being drawn into the collector. A moisture sensor protects the vacuum pump by preventing refrigeration or vacuum startup when moisture is detected in the collector chamber area (vacuum pump sold separately). The steel cabinet is powder-coated, has a removable brushed stainless steel front panel, and is mounted on 3" casters to facilitate moving. The cabinet interior accommodates a vacuum pump (sold separately). The system has a 3/4" rear-mounted vacuum connection that extends vertically to save space.
