The handle is built of 410 stainless-steel-hardened and tempered to provide maximum strength. For safety, there's a convenient frame lock to secure the blade in position until you choose to releases it. The Shallot features our SpeedSafe assisted opening system with ambidextrous index-finger opening. Just pull back on the blade protrusion with the index finger of either the left or right hand. The SpeedSafe system then moves the blade out of the handle and smoothly and easily into position, ready for use. The Shallot is a pocket-perfect 4-3/8 inches closed and weighs just 4.2 ounces.
