The uppers are tough, lightweight polyester webbing and synthetic mesh that help keep small river-stones out while you wade across streams, portage your kayak, or canyoneer. The lightweight polyurethane midsole protects your foot from sharp objects and varied terrain. Keen equipped the Gallatin with a metatarsal ridge and a contoured arch for additional support. A TPU shank adds stability. Multi-directional flex grooves give the shoe a natural-feeling flex and increase the shoe's contact patch which, along with the outsole's razor siping, increases traction.
