Jukebox Hits 1945-1950
Ivory Joe Hunter's career began in 1945 and in its early stages it was as a wild boogie pianist, but as his career took shape, his approach changed and he developed a very much more popular style featuring ballads and pop songs in his repertoire. In fact, Ivory Joe went beyond his R&B routes and indeed, he was one of the first R&B artists to embrace Country & Western music, featuring it in his act and recording it long before Ray Charles. His big hit ""I Almost Lost My Mind"" was also a hit for Pat Boone and the song has been covered countless times since. It is notable that many of his songs have remained popular with artists in every genre long after his death. This is a wonderful album and a terrific addition to our fantastic Juke Box Hits series.
