J.E. Moser's 848838, 4-pack, Finishes, Coatings, Orange Waxed Shellac Flakes
Excellent as a sealer coat, quick drying, superior adhesion and hardness. Garnetlac Dewaxed Shellac Flakes offer a brownish amber tone and are highly desirable for antiques. Orange Waxed Shellac Flakes are most popular for a warm looking general finish for most interior woodwork. Super Blonde Dewaxed Shellac Flakes are the lightest of all our shellacs in color, highly refined and work great for light wood tones. Very useful as a sealer for most other shellacs, lacquers and polyurethanes. Ideal for sealing dye stains and as a barrier coat to help seal off silicone which can cause fisheye in lacquer topcoats. GENERAL MIXING GUIDELINES Mix in either a glass or plastic jar. Do not use metal containers. Mix only with Behkol solvent or high quality anhydrous (with all water removed) denatured alcohol. When purchasing denatured alcohol, read the label to ensure that it does not contain water. Water will interfere with the dissolving of the flakes. Soak the flake shellac in about half of the total denatured alcohol to be used for 24 hours or longer. Stir occasionally and when dissolved add the balance of the shellac flakes. It is not uncommon for a little residue to remain at the bottom of the container. Strain with paper strainers or cheesecloth. Additional instructions are on the container's label.
