Ivanhoe Sword

Ivanhoe is a novel by Sir Walter Scott. It was written in 1819 and set in 12th century England, an example of historical fiction, skillfully blending historic reality, chivalric romance, and high adventure . Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, disinherited and banished by his father Cedric the Saxon for swearing his love to Lady Rowena, the young noble man Ivanhoe left for the crusades with Richard the Lionhearted. On returning from the Holy Land, Ivanhoe was involved as a Richard supporter in the king's war against Prince John. Loved by the beautiful Rebecca, Jewish daughter of Isaac of York, Ivanhoe defended her innocence with his sword and spear, against the accusations from the Great Master of the Templars of being possessed by the devil and having set a love spell on the templar knight Brian de Bois-Guilbert. Eventually, Cedric accepts his son's intentions of getting married to Lady Rowena and the wedding took place in the York cathedral in the presence of King Arthur. This marriage set the end of the fighting between Saxons and Normans whose conflict came from the time of William the Conqueror in England. The Ivanhoe Sword by Marto of Toledo Spain commemorates the literary hero of Sir Walter Scott's classic adventure of the same name. The blade is made from tempered steel, with a fuller (blood groove) on each side. The intricately detailed bronze plated hilt features heraldic lions, gryphon, and unicorn on the guard with a green simulated gemstone within the pommel.
